The image, “Something Happened”, was photographed at a car parts area in Brooklyn. Iwas there to look for car window shapes and parts. I’ve been creating this window theme in my work. The window to me, has this dimension that you are looking in and out and there is the refection element as well. It automatically has a standout to other objects. Instead of using glass, I have been using plexiglass. So that it feels as if the inside of the print is reflective and not the surface of it. After printing, I mounted a mirror behind the plexiglass. This way the print takes on many different shapes depending on its surroundings. At the car part place, I found many pieces of broken glass and decided to take different shapes and join them together and layer them. After photographing the image, I then digitally painted the colors into some of the shapes. For me the theme of the piece has to do with escape and for breaking through something and that that can be a beautiful thing.
